Local Partnerships

MLBC works very closely with the Anglican Team Ministry in Furzedown:  St. James’, St. Alban’s & St. Pauls.

Furzedown is a very coherent community and our co-working with our partner churches reflects this.  Our relationships with St. James (next door) and St. Albans goes back decades and was fleshed out by a covenant which was first established in 1998, and then renewed in 2012. Our covenant has at its heart a pledge to work together wherever possible – with the needs of the community paramount in our minds.

Our shared concern for the local community has a very practical focus and has led to joint ministry and outreach in youth work based at Furzedown Youth Centre. The churches also collaborate on a variety of activities (as as at the Furzedown Big Day Out and Christmas Market) and community projects, including supporting the Wandsworth Foodbank. which is based at St Paul’s Church every Thursday morning.

We run joint enquirers, parenting and leadership training courses. In addition we have a monthly evening service for all four churches which is called First Sunday.

The Other Churches in Furzedown are:

St James’ Church which is directly across Welham Rd from MLBC, led by Team Rector, Rev. Rob Powell.

St Alban’s Church on the corner of Thrale Rd and Pretoria Rd, led by Rev. Marc Richeux.

St Paul’s Church is the other end of Welham Rd, led by Rev. Sue Clarke.
