Furzedown Youth Centre (FYC)

Due to the Coronavirus emergency we are unable to meet in groups at the church or in our homes. The priority is to stay safe whilst taking care of our family, friends and neighbours through the challenging weeks of the ‘social distancing’.

You can find us now on FaceBook. We will be posting useful links to the latest practical advice and providing online places where people can continue to relate and support each other.

MLBC was actively involved in the establishment of FYC, an independent charity serving the needs of local young people.  FYC uses the basement of St. James Church Hall opposite our church and is managed by a team of committed volunteers from the local churches and community.

Open Youth Club Sessions

FYC is open every  Friday afternoon from 3.00pm to 5.00pm as a drop in for local young people on their way home from school. This acts as a safe place for them to meet socially, relax playing various games and activities and enjoying free refreshments.  On Friday evenings in term time, from 6.00pm to 7.30pm,  FYC runs an open youth club for local young people to access support and participate in a variety of fun activities from cookery, sports, art, discussions on relevant topics and much more.

Other activities

FYC also runs a number of extra activities and sessions according to local need; most recently these have been self defence classes for young people and adults as well as scooter and skateboard competitions at the local park.
